P90x Day Three and a Half – No Ab Ripper X

So, I woke up this morning with every intention of doing the AB RipperX routing I didn’t get to yesterday. I was excited and ready. Though my legs are STILL sore from Plyo on Tuesday, I felt up to it. Only, I couldn’t do it. Something is popping in my lower back when I do the moves. It doesn’t hurt. But something definitely isn’t right. So I’m calling that routine a lost cause. I might substitute ARX for one of Mandie’s other ab DVDs until I can strengthen my abs a little more. She gave me some things to watch in my form next time (back curvature, etc) and suggested I might need to go to the chiropractor and get adjusted. As always, she’s probably right about that. I’ve only ever gone when I’ve had an injury or something like that. Read the rest of this entry »

P90x Day Three – Morning Shoulders & Arms

Getting up this morning at 5:00AM, no snoozing, was really difficult after last night. After Plyo, I still had to make dinner and Mandie made cookies for our church group thing tonight. We didn’t really get down to bed until after midnight. But I’m not going to wuss out before my first week is out. So, it was up at 5:00AM, and downstairs for Shoulders & Arms. P90x Day Two – Plyometrics

WHooooh! I brought it today!

Plyometrics was a blast and, even though it was hard at points, I never felt like I was going to lose control of form. I couldn’t squat as low on some of the moves as I wish I had. I made it through the whole thing and only paused a few times. Mostly, I paused to try to get into WOWY. It must get SLAMMED at night.

P90x Day One – Chest & Back w/ AB RipperX

Ok I knew wasn’t going to be in good enough shape to keep up with the routines on the first night. I did better than I expected, though. I kept my rep goals realistic and paused when I needed to. The one thing I was disappointed in was the quality of my pushups. I used to be able to do more. I guess that’s what comes from resting on past glories.

P90x Fit Test and Before Photos

Say goodbye to my little flab. Tonight, I took a round of pictures of my before P90x physique and took the fitness test. I don’t have my pullup bar yet and no quantifiable free weights of significant weight. The pullup bar is on order and I’m saving up for a set of PowerBlock adjustable dumbells. Until then, I have a set of resistance bands that will have to do for now. I haven’t worked out with free weights for a while. So they are pretty intense, to me anyhow.
